Opening in 1972, Crabtree Valley Mall is Raleigh's oldest mall with more than 220 stores, restaurants, and services. Anchor stores include Hudson Belk, Macy's, and Sears. Crabtree has a number of national name-brand stores such as Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, Smith and Hawken, Brooks Brothers, Laura Ashley, J. Crew, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Abercrombie and Fitch, Williams Sonoma, The Disney Store, The Museum Company and Select Comfort.

Specialty stores include the Apple Store, Gymboree, North Carolina Remembered, Sam Goody, Ross-Simmons, Nine West, The Body Shop, Crabtree and Evelyn, Victoria's Secret, Great Outdoor Provision Company, Wolf Camera, Restoration Hardware, Yankee Candle and Pier 1 Imports.

Popular apparel stores include Cache, Casual Corner, Gap, Eddie Bauer, The Limited, Limited Too and Lane Bryant.

Crabtree Valley Mall is also home to an extensive food court, and several popular eateries such as The Capitol Room at Hudson Belk (a local landmark), Ruby Tuesday, Mr. Dunderbak's Market and Cafe, Kani Japanese House of Steaks, P.F. Chang's China Bistro, Cafe Piazza, Remington Grill, The Cheesecake Factory, La Rancheria, Pharaoh's American Grill, and Panera Bread Company.
