Best of all, the ice skating is a year-round sport in the Triangle: all of these rink are open all year long, even though Raleigh-Durham's sweltering summers!
The Raleigh IcePlex

The Raleigh IcePlex is located less than two miles from the Beltline's Exit 11. The rink offers figure skating and hockey, as well as a least one public skating session a day (Admission for ages 4 to adult is $7.00, skate rental is $2.00). There is also an in-house sport shop which specializes in hockey, but offers some figure skating supplies as well. The Raleigh IcePlex claims to have the Triangle's only regulation Olympic-sized ice-rink.
The Cary Ice House
The Cary Ice House is located just down the street from Crossroads Plaza in Cary . It has a relatively small rink, but still offers a full array of programs, from birthday parties to hockey lessons. The Cary Ice House also has a video arcade and a snack bar in it's heated viewing area, so siblings, friends and relatives who don't feel like skating can stay occupied while their favorite skater is on the ice!
Admission is $6.50 for ages 13 to adult, $5.50 for kids 4-12, and $3.50 for kids under 4. Skate rental is $3.50.
RecZone Raleigh

The RecZone has the distinction of being an official practice rink for the Carolina Hurricanes hockey team. It's also the home rink for the North Carolina State University's hockey team. The RecZone offers lots of hockey camps and clinics, as well as figure skating lessons and public skating sessions. Admission to public skating sessions is $6.00. Skates and/or helmets can be rented for $2.00.
Triangle SportsPlex

The Triangle SportsPlex is a public sports facility in Hillsborough, NC, and is convenient to Durham and Chapel Hill. The SportPlex is the home rink of the UNC and Duke University hockey teams. The Triangle SportsPlex offers hockey and figure skating camps, lessons, clinics and tournaments as well as public skating sessions. Admission to public skate sessions is $6.00 for adults (over 12) and $5.00 for kids. Skate rental is $3.00.
The Triangle SportsPlex also has an indoor swimming pool and a full fitness training facility, complete with cardio deck and weight training equipment, so non-skaters can find plenty to do while their favorite skater is on the ice.
Ice House Garner

Ice House Garner offers a full array of skating programs, including lots of programs for tots and home schooled children. Admission to public skate sessions costs $5.50 for adults (over 13) and $4.50 for kids 5-12 ($3.50 for kids under 5). Skate rental is $3.50.
