Pittsboro, North Carolina is a charming town that's just a stone's throw away from Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. Pittsboro is home to many unusual art galleries, boutiques and restaurants. If you plan on visiting Pittsboro and enjoying its dining and shopping opportunities, make sure to call ahead: Pittsboro's "alternative" stores also tend to have very alternative hours!

The Historic Pittsboro Courthouse sits in the middle of Pittsboro's central traffic circle and is the town's best-known landmark. It was built in 1881, and has had several major additions and renovations since then. Although most of Pittsboro's judicial proceedings are now held in the town's new judicial center, the historic courthouse building has found other uses, including as the home of the Chatham Historical Museum, which is open on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons.
