The Raleigh, NC-based North Carolina State University Men's Basketball Team was established in 1911 and played in the Southern Conference until 1954, when the team became one of the founding members of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
Since then, they have gone on to win several conference titles and championships. However, their most recent ACC title was won in 1989. The NC State Wolfpack Men's Basketball Team has also won two NCAA Championships (in 1974 and 1983).
The NC State Men's Basketball team is currently coached by Sidney Lowe, who accepted the head coaching position in 2006. Former coaches of the Wolfpack Men's Basketball Team include Herb Sendek (1996-2006), Les Robinson (1990-1996), Jim Valvano (1980-1990) and Norm Sloan (1967-1980).
Notable basketball players who have been a part of the NC State Men's Basketball Team include former NBA player and NBA Slam Dunk Champion Spud Webb and current NBA player Cedric Simmons.
The Wolfpack Men's Basketball Team plays most of its home games at the RBC Center in Raleigh, though they also play several games a year in historic Reynolds Coliseum
