The UNC Tar Heels Men's Basketball team plays its home games at the Dean E. Smith Student Activities Center (also known as the "Dean Dome") in Chapel Hill. The team is coached by Roy Williams, a North Carolina native and UNC graduate who moved home from Kansas , where he was the head coach of the Kansas State Jayhawks for 15 years, in order to accept the head coaching spot for the Tar Heels.
During almost a century of play (the Tar Heels Basketball Team played its first game in 1910), the UNC Tar Heels Men's Basketball Team has won 17 ACC Titles and four NCAA Championships. Some of the notable players who helped to build that legacy include Michael Jordan, who went on to become one of the top players in the NBA, and Larry Brown, who is currently the coach of the Charlotte Bobcats NBA team.
UNC also has a Junior Varsity Men's Basketball Team, which plays against NCAA Division II and III schools.
