North Carolina State Fair-October 18-24
The North Carolina State Fair takes place October 18-24, 2010 at the State Fair Grounds in Raleigh.
Raleigh International Festival-October 1-3
Celebrating it's 25th year, the Raleigh International Festival is a 3-day celebration of music, food and culture from around the globe. Raleigh Convention Center. Adults $7. Kids 7 and under FREE.
Festifall Arts Festival - October 3
Festifall is a family-friendly outdoor arts and crafts festival. Music, food and kids-activities. Downtown Chapel Hill 1-6 p.m. FREE
World Beer Festival - October 9
The World Beer Festival features over 300 beer vendors from all over the country; local restaurants, vendors, family entertainment; and great music by local and regional artists. Tickets $45 in advance, $50 at the door, if available. VIP tickets $80, advance purchase only. 12-4pm and 6-10pm.

Phoenix Fest - October 2
Phoenix Fest is an annual cultural celebration of the business and cultural legacy of Durham's Hayti community, one of North Carolina's oldest African American communities. Starting with a parade that features marching bands, motorcycles and classic cars, the festivities continue with musical talent from all over the east coast, eye-pleasing vendor displays and lip-smacking soul food. Parade of Homes - October 2-3, 8-10, 15-17
The Parade of Homes is a simultaneous open house of new homes in Durham, Orange and Chatham Counties. Homes will be open from 12-5 p.m. Listings will be in a Parade of Homes magazine that is available beginning Sep. 30. FREEBlessing of the Animals- October 3
The Blessing of the Animals service is held each year near the Feast Day of St. Francis. The service will be held in the Duke Chapel at Duke University at 3 p.m. All persons who love animals, along with all pets and their human friends are invited. Music by the Durham Children's Choir and information booths staffed by local animal protection and welfare groups.
Campout Carolina- October 8-9
Campout! Carolina is an annual statewide event encouraging friends, families, churches, scout troops and community groups of all kinds to show support for North Carolina's environment. Those who participate are encouraged to pitch a tent in their backyard or favorite North Carolina campsite, turn off or unplug non-essential electrical items, and enjoy an evening outdoors with family and friends.
Spooky Saturday - October 23
Spooky Saturday is a day of spooky fun with crafts, special programs and animal encounters. Museum of Life and Science, Durham. 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Museum admission required. See more Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill 2010 Halloween events.
Fuqua/Coach K Conference on Leadership - October 25-27
The Fuqua/Coach K Conference on Leadership features outstanding speakers from the public and private sectors who have led and are leading through times of uncertainty. Participants will experience interactive learning in breakout sessions moderated by Duke Faculty and Scholars. Each year, conference participants attend a moderated practice session with Coach K and Duke Men's Basketball Team and a special gala dinner. Cost $1500 per person, $1350 per person for groups of 4 or more.
