Raleigh-Durham Restaurants That Offer "Kids Eat Free" Promotions

Eating out is a big treat for the whole family, but it can be a real budget-buster too. Some restaurants in the Raleigh-Durham area offer "kids eat free" promotions to help make dining out more affordable for families. I've focused on restaurants that let kid's ages 10-12 and under eat free, although some area restaurants such as Sweet Tomatoes allow only very young children (under two years old) to eat free.

FYI, some area restaurants, such as the Bear Rock Cafe at University Mall offer "kids eat for 99 cents" promotions. Not quite free, but still a pretty good deal. Please keep in mind that promotions change frequently, so you might want to call ahead to make sure that the promotion you're counting on is still in effect.

Kids under 12 eat free from the Little Champps menu (one free kid's entree per adult entree purchase) at Chapps on Tuesday nights. What's more, the Triangle Town Center Champps location often hires a local magician to provide family-friendly entertainment from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evenings.

Cinelli's Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria

On Mondays, Cinelli's Durham location allows up to two kids to eat for free off of the Cinelli's kids menu with each adult entree purchase.

On Sundays kids under 12 eat free at Dickey's. With each adult entree purchased, get one kid's size barbecue sandwich, plate or chicken nuggets. This offer is good for dine-in only, not for carry-out. Don't forget that Dickey's serves a free ice cream cone with each entree purchased.

Denny's

Hooter's

On Sunday evenings, kids eat free off of the kid's menu at Hooter's Wake Forest Road location. Who knew that Hooter's even had a kid's menu? Fair warning, for those of you who have never heard of Hooter's: Hooter's has made a name for itself by hiring busty waitresses and having them dress in skimpy tee-shirts and short shorts.

Lone Star Steakhouse

Lone Star Steakhouse has a great kids eat free promotion, but keep in mind that it only runs on Tuesdays. Here it is: with the purchase on any adult entree, get a free kid's entree for up to two kids ages 12 and under. Lone Star's kid's menu is limited, but has some good selections on it, including cheeseburgers and steak medallions at most locations. Eat 'em up!

At TGI Friday's in Apex, kids eat free Sunday-Thursday (promotion may vary by location), and can select one free entree from the kid's menu with the purchase of one adult entree. The kid's menu fare is pretty standard: mac n' cheese, burgers, chicken fingers, etc. The highlights of the menu (in my humble opinion) are pizza and BBQ pork ribs, which are messy, but are just the ticket if your kids want to try something a little different.

Torero's Mexican Restaurant

Torero's has seven Triangle-area locations, including locations in Carrboro, Raleigh , Durham and Cary . At Torero's, kids eat free from the Little Amigo Menu (one kid's entree per adult entree purchased) on Monday through Thursday.
