Marbles Kids Museum Raleigh - Profile of Marbles Kids Museum Raleigh

From Tammy Biondi, for About.com

Marbles Kids Museum is located right in the heart of downtown Raleigh, and has hands-on exhibits designed to help kids learn through play. Marbles' exhibits are mostly aimed at children under 12 years of age. Marbles' permanent exhibits include the 2 B Me Gallery, where kids can develop their artistic talents, and the Splash! Gallery where kids can learn all about water and its amazing role in our lives.

In addition to its permanent exhibits, Marbles Kids Museum also hosts a variety of temporary exhibits, special events, camp and workshops. Marbles camps are for kids ages 3-12 and are held year-round, since many of Wake County 's schools run on an alternative, year-round, calendar. Special events take place at Marbles almost every weekend. Marbles Kids Museum also runs Kidsplosure during Raleigh's annual Artsplosure festival held annually in May.

If you'd like to celebrate your very own special event at Marbles, you're in luck! Marbles has birthday party packages (for kids ages 1-12) starting at $175. Marbles museum can also be rented out for other special events, including fundraisers. In fact, you can rent out the whole museum for an evening, if you're so inclined. The price tag? $4,000.

Admission to Marbles is $5.00 for everyone who's more than one year old. Admission to Marbles IMAX theater is not included in the museum admission price. IMAX tickets cost between $6.50 and $11.95 per movie, depending on the age of the visitor and which IMAX movie you want to see.

Marbles is open Tuesday-Saturday from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 12:00-5:00 p.m. Marbles Kids Museum is closed on Mondays.
